Well, we are in Perth and the big fun starts today. I'm off on a bus tour concentrating on library architecture while Sarah is doing a walking tour of some of the specialist libraries in the CBD. By the look of the gloomy weather, I've got the better end of that deal.
We arrived at lunchtime yesterday and hotfooted over to Curtin University Library for a look at some of their initiatives. We met with Constance Wiebrands who was very informative and kindly took us out for food afterwards. That's networking right?
Curtin have a number of interesting ideas on the go, including a library blog and podcasts. Perhaps we should be looking at these tools at our library?

Hi Tom,
I had a quick look at the podcasts and you are so right - they're amazing! I hunted around for Library Tour blogs and was particularly impressed by the flexibility the students have - 4 flexible 'tour' options including some research skills. I wonder how the library handles those students who don't have an MP3 player - do they supply/loan equipment for students to use??? I also like Curtin's webpage - smaller print and easy to navigate.
cheers,
eleonore ellis
PS - This is the first time I've blogged - a virgin blogger?

Hi Eleonore, this is Constance here. Thanks for visiting Curtin's website! :) In answer to your question about equipment for loan, we make each podcast downloadable so that those who don't have an MP3 player can still listen to it on their computers. So an MP3 player is not at all essential. We have been investigating what equipment we can provide for loan, but as you can imagine there are a few issues to be considered here...

Thanks guys. Ele, there is a session about blogs tomorrow - is there anything else specific you want me to ask about?
