More courses, more research, more international dialogue were significant factors in RIAP’s strong success in 2005.

RIAP delivered around 40 projects, trained more than 700 people from 12 Asia Pacific countries, and involved over 300 local and international experts in the delivery of its programs.

Executive training again emerged the strong performer. Over 500 Chinese government and business officials have attended customised courses aimed at meeting China’s developmental needs.

RIAP also offered a greater variety of courses, with around 24 different areas of training marketed to clients in the region. For example, RIAP’s multilateral bond market development training project, funded by AusAID, supported the capacity building goals of the APEC Finance Minister’s Process (FMP).

Study tours program for undergraduates expanded, accommodating not only North American students but also those from Northeast Asia.

In areas of research, RIAP reviewed the policies and programs impacting the flow of foreign direct investments into South East Asia as part of the eight Building Institutional Capacity in Asia (BICA) report, a project funded by the Japan Ministry of Finance. The continued high quality of RIAP’s BICA reports led to the Ministry to approve the development of 2005/06 project, which sought to study the effectiveness of Japanese aid in the Asia region.
