University students will have an opportunity to advance their international career prospects in an intensive two-month internship stint in Korea.
The Australia Korea Internship Program (AKIP) is an initiative developed by the University of Sydney and funded by the Australia – Korea Foundation.
The program, now in its third year, offers exceptional opportunities for outstanding postgraduate, third and fourth year undergraduate students who wish to further or pursue a business-related career in the Asia-Pacific Region.
“The program is an excellent opportunity for students to expand their Asia Pacific knowledge and enhance their career prospects,” says Eugene Sebastian from the Research Institute for Asia and the Pacific (RIAP).
“In an increasingly competitive international environment, students are required to broaden their study experiences to remain attractive and relevant to future employers.
This type of program creates an opportunity that gives students that extra edge in the employment market while increasing their knowledge about Korean culture, language and business.
Such experience not only add to the students’ employability but will help nurture the critical skills required to operate comfortably across cultures and national boundaries,” said Eugene Sebastian.
The program is open to all Australian citizens who are studying postgraduate and undergraduate students in the fields of business and information technology. Interns will be working in an English speaking environment. Students will work within local and multinational corporations in Korea engaging in business, trade, financial, technological and resource-based interactions. A group of ten selected nationally will depart for Seoul in January 2006.
Application closes on 3 November 2006. For further information regarding the program, visit: Australia Korea Internship Program website
