The picture is not the best quality, but I liked the scene:

In related news, I've just been told by one of the natives that I am "awfully well dressed" today. Ha ha! Splendid! I put on jeans and my RMs instead of the usual shorts and boat shoes. I guess it makes a difference.
(And 'awfully'? My admirer was at pains to stress he did not mean it to be pejorative, but being a native English speaker I knew that. I was rather — pleasantly — surprised at its use. For my next trick, I shall use 'awfully pretty' and 'pretty awful' in the same sentence.)

Not to disparage your awfully nice garb, but what the heck do the natives wear to make your outfit look special? Just wondering.
Also, the umbrella picture is rather nice.

Why do all academic bio labs around the world look identical? Why can't I fantasize that you work in L'Oreal-like research conditions? (Nice picture, really)

R'pus: apart from 2 or 3 of the lassies who always look elegant, if not glamorous, it's generally student garb. Which I guess is the same the world over, except here the footwear is flip-flops (I can't bring myself to use the native term for them -' thongs').
Alethea: you may still fantasize ;) I have previously posted a picture of the inside of the labs. But I know what you mean, it would be nice to think that someone, somewhere, works in a gleaming Rolls Royce of a lab, with soft pink refrigerators. . .
