This one's for the Whiffler:

From the ABC, I read

More acute for the Wallabies was that for the third time in tournament history it was bitter rivals England who were their World Cup executioner

and would like to comment that ultimately, England's verdugoship proved too much for the struggling Australian rugby team.

I thank you.

Bravo for that elegant word use.

The Bleus proved too much for the not struggling All-Blacks and no one can still quite believe it. On the radio, the announcer was gushing about how "fair play" the New Zealand coach was - because in the reverse situation, it's not clear we would have taken defeat with anything resembling grace. Now on to that 800-year old confrontation, France-England. I must say that it would be really pitiful if France won an important game for this most English of sports, especially since the Indians already whupped the English in cricket. (hehe)

Oh yeah, I'm not following sports, I'm revising articles. (slaps herself on the cheek). I forgot.

Heh heh heh.

The Frogs vs Les Ros Bifs will be interesting, but frankly my dear, I'm just happy that we've knocked the Aussies out (even though I now have to put up with all the whinging). Beating the French would just be the icing on the cake.

The Black Queen is a Kiwi, so my exultation is tempered by commiseration.

Still, I look forward to the next time the French cricket team play. . . *snicker*

The Irish post doc who let us sit in her house and watch the games is a little hesitant on which side to cheer on Saturday. Either English oppression or French, well... frogs ;)

Personally, seeing I have no team to call my own, I am contemplating starting up a rugby team in the north of Europe? (maybe a uni league?) It should work out, being kind of rough and violent at the same the as sticking to rules and not being over zealous in stamping your feet on the guy on the ground... :)

ah, as the first commentor - I need to go back to the articles and reading.

*Clapclapclapclapclap*

And we thank you.
