But...do you get a cut? I am a little disturbed that someone could collect freely available essays and make a profit by way of publication.

ah. . . your concern for my pecuniary well-being is appreciated. Basically, with 50 authors, any money would be sliced very thin. I retain copyright though, and could easily have refused permission.
