Stupid

11 October, 2008

I had cause to send a Very Important Document to the UK on Tuesday (and also one within Sydney). So I got a consignment tracking number, and this morning I decided it might be an idea to see how the VID is doing.

Fine. Exactly what I was expecting. But wait! What's this?

For enquiries about Express Courier International or Express Post International, please e-mail us or call 1800 007 67

So I rang. And this—the International postal service office—keeps office hours 8-19h Monday to Friday only.

Stupid bloody country.

You should expand to stupid bloody world. Canada Post tracking is the same, it usually gives the same "error" message on weekends.

I'll go with that, Paulo.

Turns out that the 'tracking number' isn't actually a 'tracking number'. It's just a number that they give saying you can track the article, but you can't really.

Yeah. I didn't want this visa anyway.

Same here. The "tracking" is updated every day, except on weekends, and it is not like tracking from companies like FedEx.

Probably, one company creates these "tracking" systems to all post offices in the world. USPS is also pretty bad (or used to be).

1900 h and you are moaning! When we get one of those "while you were out" cards, we have to get to the (not very nearby) collection office by 2 pm.

More normally, these places "close for enquiries" at 1700 hours. Very frustrating, especially if you happen to be in Australia....
