eWaste?

17 December, 2008

Did you know that you can arrange to have electronic waste (e-waste) recycled through the University’s e-Waste Recycling Program?

I was disappointed to discover that this referred to

  • Computers
  • Printers
  • Faxes
  • Copiers
  • Phones (including mobile phones)
  • AV equipment
  • Small whitegoods such as microwaves
rather than, say, the electrons from emails that you've deleted, or disk blocks from when you clear your browser cache, or whatever. The starving post-docs at UNSW need your spare electrons! Please give generously!

E waste

(Are we even allowed to say 'whitegoods' anymore?)

Lab kitchen equipment tends to be kind of yellow by the time anybody is brave enough to suggest a replacement

About the Rat

Black Knight is interested in the interaction of science (as a day job and as a way of thinking) with his family, the wider community and literature. And tormenting students. Frequently polemical, sometimes serious, and hopefully always entertaining more
