Black Knight has been a professional research scientist since being awarded his DPhil in 1994. He believes that he is still in training, as he is constantly learning new things about the profession and science itself.

He is interested in many things, which probably explains his inability to stick with a single research project for very long. The interaction of science (as a day job and as a way of thinking) with his family, the wider community and literature is a particular subject of this weblog.

All characters and events referred to are real. The thinly-veiled anonymity of the Black Knight is in order to protect his colleagues and family from ridicule. He does, however, welcome feedback of any kind and the email address blackasknight@gmail.com is valid.
