If you have daily dilemmas about how to spell particular words (it happens to the best of us, even yours truly) we have some great news for you. All University staff have free access to the online version of the Macquarie Dictionary.

The Macquarie Dictionary is our primary resource for checking the correct Australian spelling of words.

Try it out with a simple click-through to our Macquarie Dictionary resource. You’ll need your UniKey to access it.

In some cases you may find that the dictionary offers two acceptable spellings (for example, adviser and advisor). The first listed spelling is generally our preferred choice.

Happy dictionary surfing!
