The Universe waits with baited breath to see how our young heroes and heroines fare in the battle with the mythical UAI.
Wow. The infamous UAI release day. That takes me back.
I was genuinely afraid of the UAI during year 12. I couldnt believe that my entire seven years at high school would be boiled down to a few numbers. Numbers that would govern the rest of my life for as far as I could see. I was particularly nervous that my fate was already sealed by choosing humanities based subjects that were almost certainly going to be scaled down to match the tempreture of a hot summer's day.
Because im a nerd at heart, throughout year 12 i had sort of created this idea in my head that the HSC was some huge personal quest and that my UAI would determine the fate of the world. I didn't believe it but it was a way for me to deal with the beast that is the UAI. it was a bit of fun too. Clearly I went a little barmy during the exams, but who could blame me? There was such a huge amount of pressure placed on this day and number for the greater part of the year by all those i knew and loved.
So with the themesong for the hero playing somewhere in the back of my head i made the trek to the telephone and dialed. Each of the key presses echoed through time as the fates of the Universe listened with baited breath as that
pleasant voice told me my score.
Well, here I am three years later. Clearly the world didnt end and i also wasnt elevated to the status of a hero anywhere except inside my head. No matter what sort of perspective I provide for you, lets face it - you aren't going to listen. Why should you? This is a big day, get excited! Good luck everyone!

Wow, it's like you read my thoughts, Tim! Thanks for sharing your experience, it makes me feel better about how nervous I was. It's good to know other people went through the same thing!

What type of journalistic integrity do you expect to keep, weblog or not, if you're going to write shameless promotional material about the HSC and UAIs while you're in Uni?
I guess the propaganda board will take care to see that my comment doesn't get published, but hey... at least you're reading it.
