Information Day is a good chance to come down and talk with Faculty Representatives and Students about what courses you want to study. By talking to the experts, we can help you find the course that you will love.

I must start this entry saying that I am currently listening to the 12th Man, so if there are really poor references (such as the title), I am sorry. Well, you have the UAI, your marks, and probably about 400 questions about courses. The best place to get answers for these questions is not from your second cousin twice removed from Western Australia, but the actual people who know. Info Day gives you the chance to sit down with Academics, Uni Reps and Students to discuss what you want to do, and to get the correct answers to your questions.

There are quite a few advantages in coming in to talk with the experts. Did you for instances know about the Flexible Entry program that exists for numerous University courses? If you just missed out on the UAI cut off, you can still make it into the course. (If this is you, have a look at http://www.info.usyd.edu.au/dontpanic/flexible.shtml for the courses where this is available). I’ve found this is one of the biggest advantages about coming and asking questions of the experts, you can find out some very useful information that could very well help you out.

The course information is also very useful. Its great to sit down and get an idea of what the staff are like, they’re generally fantastic and you warm to them very quickly (in that respect too, you can pick some that you may not like so much too…) So its all about gathering information that can help you a little further down the track.

As well as talking to Academics, it’s a good chance to talk to students. There are lots of them around, they will be in the booths with the blue ‘No Limits’ T-shirts. You could go up and ask them what course they do, and tell them what your thinking of doing. Its always good to get the perspective of someone who has experienced what your going through first hand, and recently at that!

Open Day has a great buzz too, it’s a big carnival, so its great fun to come along anyway. It’s a really good indication of the sort of buzz that the campus has during term time. It’s a great chance to have a look round the place, especially so you can develop your bearings around the campus too!

Thanks for letting me know, Brendon. When is Info Day? Do we need to book a place or anything, or should we just get there on the day? Also, I want to do Visual Arts and I know that's not on main campus. Are the other campuses open on that day too?

Hey Isabelle, great questions there. Have a look at http://www.info.usyd.edu.au/infoday/index.shtml for more info on Open Day, which is on the 4th of Jan. Its on our Camperdown Campus, and reps from all the other campus will come there so you dont have to drive around to ask questions! Good luck with Visual Arts!

Oh, thanks Brendon. Merry Christmas!
P.S Keep up the blogs, guys, I think they're great and I've told all my mates at school!
