Lauren’s Chronicle of the Rich and Famous at Uni has spurred me onto drop names too, so here I go, people I think you should know at Uni!

Lauren was uber sheik with dropping names at Uni, but Ill be a little more forward with it all! Here are some of the people with power at Uni, the people not to offend!

Professor Gavin Brown- Vice Chancellor: Prof. Brown has been wonderful for the Uni, as due to his personal experience, he has developed substantial support and scholarship resources for students. I think he has been good too as he is often out and around the Quad a bit, so give him a wave if you see him!

Dr Bill Adams- Registrar: Another important person to know, Dr Adams is responsible for admissions, enrolments, class timetabling, examinations, student records, graduations, student welfare and support services, corporate records management, FOI and privacy, secretariat, elections, but perhaps most importantly, Marketing and Student Recruitment!! He shares his name with a production sports car racer, so that must be a good thing!

Amit Singh: President University of Sydney Union: Amit is great to know, I don’t know him, but he could get you some great deals on Union Food and probably Beer at Manning. I also like Katie Fernandez, Lauren Hendry-Parsons and Simon Fontana as they all gave me shirts at the last Union elections (I don’t get involved with elections, but Ill wear a shirt if you give it to me!!), and they can get discounts at Union places too (Only Lauren has given me said discount so she is my favourite!).

Nick Wood- SRC President: Although Nick didn’t give me a shirt, he is another good person to know, and I have sat near him at the Wentworth Bar too. The SRC and USU will be going through a lot of change this year, but he will still be good to know.

Mr Matthew Fernandez, Mr Tristan Rendell- O Week CoConvenors: Good people to know, as there is lots of tops things that go on during O Week that they could get you good tickets for or the like. You could try and get a T-Shirt out of them too!

Rose Byrne- Actor: If you know her, can I be friends with you??? hehehehe. (I heard once that she was doing a BA at Sydney, but this has very little relevance to anything, but hey it was worth a go!)

Editors, Honi Soit: Another good group, mainly because they are funny, and you can make sure that they don’t write anything bad about you. I’m not a big enough fish to be written about, but if I were, I would know whom to call if something bad happened!!

The Dean, Your Faculty: Someone to look up, each faculty has one, so look them up, and make sure your good to them! The Faculty of Arts Dean, Professor Stephen Garton, is very supportive and good fun. I’ve had a few classes with the Head of School for Philosophical and Historical Inquiry, Professor Richard Waterhouse, and he is great fun too. I was on my best behaviour in those classes though, let me tell you!!

Any of the Staff at USU or the Library: Simple, Library people are good to know, and the USU food staff are great to know as they can give you discounts too. At school I had an agreement with the Tuck Shop lady to sell me all the left over Muffins and the like for pittance at the end of each day! I tried the same thing at uni, but there is often not much left!!!!

Yeah, well there is the breakdown of some of the go to people. You will quickly get to know more people round uni, but if you know that Prof Brown and Dr Adams are very important people, it could save some bad moments!!!

Well, stay tops too, speak to you soon,

B
