« I remember the time…I got my Uni Offer | Main | Go you good things! »

I only say boring because everything kind of just went to plan. There's no conflict! No suspense! No punch, as it were. Ah well, here it is anyway.

Sometimes things just fall into place, you know? I applied for Media and Communications through the Flexible Entry scheme. On offers day I read in the newspaper that I did indeed get offered a position in the course, despite being a couple of points short of the cut-off. Getting into Sydney Uni meant that I was eligible for a scholarship with them, and as well as this, I had lined up a position at one of the residential colleges to live in.

My parents always said that it didn’t matter what results I got, because they would still be proud of me. But in reality, I guess the main thing I felt was relief — that I hadn’t let everybody down, as well as myself. I think you can’t help having certain expectations of yourself; after a year of living and breathing the HSC, it’s hard not to believe the hype.

So, writing all that down now makes me realise that sometimes you just have luck on your side. But it doesn’t count for everything — I guess the message is that you have to be prepared, and then it’s a matter of leaving things to take their course.

Best of luck to everyone, and remember that straight from A to B is not the only way to get there.

Hey guys,
I just want to say, thanks so much for this blog! It's been both informative and entertaining. Hope to see you all this year on campus! (I got my first preference today, yay!)

Hey Katrina - thanks for your comment. Congrats on getting your first preference, that's such a relief! Great work, you must be so excited!

Stay tops,
Lauren

Informative AND entertaining? Really, you're too kind :) Thanks for the vote of confidence - it's great to know people are reading!

Kat, that is well tops! Kicked a goal, thats wonderful. Have fun on enrolment, and we'll see you about the shop this year!

I would love to study at Sydney Uni. Ideally I would like to a Bachelor of the Arts and Major in a language like italian or french. Haven't decided yet.
I think you are all lucky. Perhaps I will study with one of you in the next few years. I am applying next year to get in in 2008. I find it very exciting and can't wait to enroll.
