Help! Security!

6 January, 2006

At Uni we have a big team of well-trained, tough looking security guards in case you get yourself into trouble (or park your car in the wrong place). Here is the 4-1-1 on the men and women who aim to secure!

Yo Yo, what’s the go? I think some time soon I shall write a blog full of stolen quotes and the like. Prizes will be allocated to those who can name all of them (You can receive an email back from me saying congratulations). But on to more important issues, the security service at University.

You will become familiar quite quickly with the security services at Uni, there are patrol cars around all the time (Commodore Wagons with sirens and security written down their side. If you do miss them, go to the Optometrist in Wentworth and have your eyes checked), and there are lots of foot and bike patrols around all the time too. Security is in the Services building over on the Darlinghurst campus, opposite the Faculty of Economic and Business. They’re phone numbers are 9351 3333 for Emergencies or 9351 3487 for enquiries. They also have a toll free number, it is 1800 063 487. I have the number saved in my phone just in case I spot trouble (or if I create it), and it doesn’t hurt to have it in there.

The Security guards are there for your protection, but they can also help to provide first aid too. If you, or someone about Uni gets into trouble, always see if they’re about (if its bad always get an ambo, but they are all certified to give first aid) so that’s cool to know.

Whilst they are there to help, they can also wield a mighty mean fine book if you do naughty things around campus. Parking and driving offences are the main things, but I wouldn’t risk doing anything bad round them, could turn pear shaped very quickly!!

Well, Stay tops, see you round or up-side down

I say it is a super fantastic idea to store the security folks’ phone number in your phone. When I was in first year I was stuck in a lift in Fisher library and the library closed (it's a long story). Anyhoo, I had my mobile with the security number in it and that saved my life, or, at least, it saved me from having to spend a hungry, lonely night in the lift with only a Picnic bar and a copy of Middlemarch to keep me company.
