« Rollin' 'n' tumble: how to get into uni | Main | Get through enrolment like a pro! »

Laurens blog on her daily adventures has inspired me to copy her and write what I do all day. Just though that you might like another perspective, so here it goes….

WEDNESDAY

8.30 Wake up, turn on the Computer then go and have a shower, brush the pegs, make myself look beautiful.

8.50 Check my email, read the paper online (I usually read the SMH and Australian, Rugby heaven is a must too), see if any new cars are for sale (This takes a while, I go to Carsales, Carpoint, Drive, eBay, BMW Drivers Club) while listening to music on the computer. I usually talk to someone on MSN too (I am such a Dag) too, mainly about girls (I am a Dag!!)

9.30 Pack my bag for Uni (I take the readings out of the reading pack so I only have to carry the weeks reading)

9.38 Go and have a glass of juice, piece of fruit and maybe some Raspberry bullets for breakfast (I don’t normally eat in the morning, so that’s one goal for this year, to eat breakfast!), fill my water bottle and put some food bars in my bag.

9.42 Turn on the radio or the TV to listen to another song, and to see what Sky News has to say for itself. Generally turn on Fox sports too, see what’s the go there.

9.55 Head up to the Bus Stop, generally do some more of my readings at the bus stop and on the bus.
10.25 Arrive in Wynard, walk down to the Newsagency and buy Motorsport News (It comes out each Fortnight on Wednesday, I buy it then because I am a tragic petrol head and a dag), nearly fall over several times while trying to read and walk to the next bus stop on George Street.

10.50 Get into Uni and walk up to my tute, if Motorsport News is good I will generally keep reading it, or I try and get to class early so that I can sit and read it before the Tute Starts.

11.05 Tute on Australian History in Edward Ford. I take notes from the presenters, then make comments on my impressions of their presentation and the readings. I try to talk in tutes so that the Tutor doesn’t have to do all the talking, but I do encourage other people to get rowdie and make crazy points to spark debate in tutes. I love fireworks (I always sink into my chair if they do start so that I’m not blamed or included unnecessarily!)

11.55 Finish the tute and walk up with some friends to a lecture. I generally try and give them a G-up for next week so that there will be fire works, doesn’t generally work.

12.05 Lecture on Literature and Politics in the Old Geology Lecture Theatre. Just sit and take notes, lots of reading in this course so I try and take as many notes as possible to get my head around some of the stuff

1.00 Go have lunch at Manning. Its tops, generally have a lunch crew (its established at the start of each semester, see who is free when then meet up each week after that) who I dine with. I either have a sandwich from the 7-11 style shop down stairs (lot like a school canteen) or the Union Special, which is Cheap!! Depends how I’m feeling and how cheap I am.

2.00 First lunch crew leaves so I go and join the second crew. Don’t eat much, might have a custard tart or an ice-block or the like, but just sit and chill for the hour.

3.05 Lecture on Australian History in the Quad Latin Room II. I really enjoy Australian History, so never mind this hour. This is very much siesta time, so you have to concentrate to make sure you get everything down! The Quad has some great lecture theatres too, I just love being in there

4.05 Head to Education for a tute on the Black Experience in the America’s. Really enjoy the material, its very interesting and changes every week, but people don’t talk much in this one, so it does tend to drag a bit. Some weeks are better then others, there are some cool people in here too so its not all bad

3.55 Cross the bridge from the Education Building to Manning Bar. Its just brilliant that bridge, I love it. Generally meet up with a mate or too, then run into a few more people that you know for a while there too. I can have a beer on Wednesday as I have finished class for the week!

5.30 Head down to the Landsdown Hotel on the Corner of Broadway and City Road. I love that place, $5 steaks! (You have to have a drink with it, but the beers are only $3.50, soft drinks are only $3.00, so that’s very cheap!!) There are lots of things to eat. I love it. I generally have two dinners just because they’re so wonderful and cheap (it would be rude not to!!). I generally run into a few friends down there as it gets really, really busy. It’s actually hard to get a table from 6-8, so you run into lots of people you know!

7.30 Either head home or out for a bit. Trivia is always a winner, Tracks and Epping RSL are so last year but still provide some entertainment, or sometimes there are tops things on at Uni like faculty Reviews or Verge (its an art festival) events, so I sometimes stay in at Uni for longer.

12.30 I generally get home at this time most nights at about this time. As usual though, a pretty full day that includes lots of study but lots of fun too. That’s the life of a Uni student!!!

Well, that’s the go. I do have to train on Tuesday and Thursday nights for football, so Wednesday is a nice day off in the middle of the week. As you can see, Uni is really quite good, but you have to make sure you get the work done in order to be able to have fun too. I study on Thursdays and Fridays so I give myself a bit of down time on Wednesdays, so that the go!!

Hope your tops, post a comment to tell me how you are!!!

Tata,

Brendon
