There has been lots of talk about what the University of Sydney Union (USU), but what is it all about? Well, its well tops, Ill tell you some more.
Lots of people wear ‘I love USU’ shirts around campus (the staff members have to) and it’s not hard to realize why. The Union gives Sydney a really exciting and friendly atmosphere through a variety of services that it provides.
Firstly, you might want to check out there website. Its http://www.usuonline.com/ . If you check out the website you will probably read all the things that I’m writing, so don’t yell at me if things get repetitive.
The Union has sites all round campus that provide things from food and drink to academic gown hire and letter box hire. They also house dental and medical practices, and counselors for a variety of issues. The Main Union buildings that you come into contact with as a student are the Holme Building (affectionately known as Holme and Away), Manning House (home of Manning Bar, great live music venue) and the Wentworth Building (Its got a Donut King!!!). These building are spaced out over main campus so that all students have access to their facilities.
The Union also provides the base for all the clubs and societies on campus. There is list of them all on the website above, and they also publish the ‘Beige Pages’ with details of each. There are some great ones, you should have a look.
The Union also has regular competitions, cheap tickets to different things events and the like, so it’s well tops! The main thing to do as a student is to use it as much as possible, that’s what its there for, and you’ve already paid for it too! So use it to the max!
