Just friends, the movie

13 February, 2006

This movie isn't in the top ten films for this week. It's not very good. I wrote some more things about it.

I just saw Just Friends, the movie. Hot Blonde Chick wants to be “just friends” with Nerdy Fat Mouth Retainer Boy in high school because, well, he’s not really that great to look at. Fast forward ten years and she wants him, because Nerdy Fat Mouth Retainer Boy has become Tooth-Veneer Funboy Haircut Bicep Man (the characters probably had actual names. They must have been very unmemorable ones though.)

BUT, Hot Blonde Chick only wants Bicep Funboy if he is still the same caring, funloving sweet guy he was in high school, not the egotistical dickhead he actually is now. And he is a bit hard to watch, what with all his tantrums he keeps throwing - I actually really wanted him to not get the girl.

[Also this movie has an accident with a hockey puck and some teeth. I'll watch that guy in Saw cut off his leg a hundred times before I willingly watch a guy get his teeth knocked out. Teeth accidents are the stuff of nightmares to me. Anyway, digression.]

So what’s the take-home message? Be hot and all your wildest dreams will come true. Or perhaps, if you want sex, you’d better be attractive. It’s like She’s All That (you know, with that wounded puppy Freddie Prince Whatsyerface) but with a guy makeover instead of a girl. And perhaps not surprisingly, it’s just as unfulfilling.
