Moi a ce moment

4 July, 2006

When I was fourteen, my best friend and I had a “letter book,” in which we would write each other little blurbs about what was going on in our lives at that time. It didn’t occur to us that we saw each other everyday at school and talked to each other everyday after school, thus making the letter book somewhat redundant. Nevertheless, we continued our correspondence, and each entry included a brief description of our loves, hates, crushes and happenings. As we were French students at the time, we called this section, “Moi A Ce Moment,” or “Me at the Moment.” So, here is my July edition:

* Last night, I reviewed a band at Home in Darling Harbour. After six glasses of courage juice, I rocked up and rocked out. I felt like the kid in Almost Famous, complete with my friend Tim, who acted as Penny Lane for the night. I am hoping this will kickstart my career as a groupie (or as they’re known in Almost Famous, band-aids.)

* I have developed a new love: grocery shopping. It’s official, I’m on my way to Desperate Housewife status. I am house-sitting for my boss this week, and the prospect of buying my very own food was super exciting. (At this point, some people may say I need to get out more. To those people, I say: get thee to a Woolworths.)

* I am sick of people complaining about Jessica Rowe’s performance on the Today Show. I think the very fact that she can laugh before 9am is amazing. Puh-lease – how perky do you think you would be if you had to get up at 4am each day, face millions of viewers on live TV and work with Richard Wilkins???

* Today I pretended I was a tourist in my own city. I laced up my sneakers, armed myself with a bottle of water and hot-footed it through the city. I headed over to Elizabeth St and Hyde Park, and was reminded of how beautiful Sydney is. I think we forget sometimes – I know I certainly do.

* And finally, I am in love! No, no, it’s not Mr. P. The object of my affection is a seventeen-year-old crooner who belts out, “I’m gonna muster every ounce of confidence I have…for you I will.” Ah, my cold, cynical heart melts every time I hear Teddy Geiger’s voice. I’ve got my bridesmaids ready, and the church is free: marry me, Teddy.

Call me naive, but who is teddy??

Keren, welcome to the Teddy Geiger fan club, founded by, managed by and starring...me! Teddy is a crooner who owes much to John Mayer and Coldplay...he specialises in ballads and all things weepy and romantic. He will make you want to head out to your garden, pick some daisies for a chain to adorn your pretty head!
