A fresh start

6 August, 2006

I think the one month break I had was the perfect length: I was able to go away for a bit with my family without feeling like I had missed out on too much in Sydney; there was enough time to cool off and forget about exams before results came out; and also to watch two seasons of Scrubs - enough to be (almost) sick of it.

Ahhh.. Semester two. After this relaxing and rejuvenating break, I’ve made more resolutions about this half of the year that I did at New Year. And I’m happy to say that three weeks in, everything is panning out quite well.

My timetable is wonderful. I only have one 9 am start, so I’m able to get some sleep-in time. I honestly think that if I didn’t own a clock and forced myself to sleep each night, I’d be up until at least 4am. As I write this, it is currently 2.24am.

I’m still doing Maths and Psych, which I’m happy about. That being said, I’m actually forced to do them this year so I don't have much choice with that anyway. Also, I’m doing astronomy as my science elective (and have ridden myself of my personal least favourite: biology). Photography is my other elective.

I’ve decided to try to get a bit closer to the 'one hour of home study per contact hour' that is recommended for most subjects. I’ve resolved to do at least an eensy bit of work during the mid semester break, especially since I heard the famous story circulating at the University of Sydney that if you don’t begin studying for final exams before the Jacaranda tree flowers... well, good luck to you.

At least I’m safe for now!
