In high school, the summer break is only around 6 weeks so going overseas can sometimes take up that entire time.
At uni, however, we get a whole three and a half months, so the holiday possibilities are (almost) endless.......
I’m going to Japan on Sunday for about a month and it’s very shocking but still great to know that when I get back I’ll still have TWO MONTHS of holidays before uni goes back.........woo!
So, before you travel there is always that pre-travel anticipation. First, the packing. And before that, of the packing list. And boy do I love my lists.
I think the thing that sparked my extra excitement about going away was an SMS I received today. It was from Lauren who is currently in the USA.
“Oh my god I am about to board and Simon Baker is sitting next to me in the lounge!”
My reply was something along the lines of “OH MY GOD. OH MY GOD. KISS HIM FOR ME. OH MY GOD.” (PS if anyone out there knows Simon Baker, kindly direct him to this ego-soothing blog).
Then I got a call from Lauren, and apparently when he went to board he had left some luggage behind which she very graciously took to him. He then looked her in the eye and said, “thank you very much”, and also possibly brushed her hand. HOW EXCITING!
Anyway, I (read: my mum) decided I should do a BIG clean out of my room before I went to Japan. And this wasn’t just a surface clean, no no. We tapped into the Corner-Of-Room territory. And then the Back-Of-Closet domain. These were dangerous terrains we are heading into.
Some of the things I found were inconceivably useless and I have no idea why I’d kept them. Other things were sooo reminiscent, for example a little box I had with all my treasures in it, like one of those filled-with-sand toys and a battery operated fan. (So I was a weird kid. I never got a gameboy, ok?) Also, some notes that were passed between friends in Geography and such, saying “who do you like?” etc.
I managed to leave my packing till the very last day, whose schedule included: visiting the cemetery to take flowers to my grandmother, buying a pet for my grandfather (for Christmas), visiting my godmother (yearly ritual at Christmas), buying a double earphone adapter for my iPod, then having Christmas dinner and a present opening ceremony with my family at home. I had about 1 hour to pack before dinner, then at 8pm we headed for the airport - all was dandy and I am now polishing this off from the comfort (HA!) of my room in a youth hostel in Tokyo. Which, by the way, makes the sentences at the beginning of the blog (“This Sunday I’m going to Japan...”) completely wrong.

How hard is it to become a dentist?
Posted by: Sa | December 16, 2006 04:19 PM
Hi Sa,
To become a dentist you need to complete the Bachelor of Dentistry, which is a Graduate program - this means you need to have completed another degree before you can apply.
Please have a look at the website for much more detail, and Good luck!
