Hellooooooooooooooooo...?
Is anybody out there?
Hmm, that reminded me of Titanic. Back to the point though, all you people out there reading this blog, show your faces!
This blog has been going strong for one year and I for one read it very eagerly during this time last year.
So I have a confession. We here in blogland (or at least myself) live for comments. Truly. And I know you’re all up to your eyeballs in questions so here’s your chance. If you’re scared you’ll sound silly or something, leave a fake name.
And if you ask any of us something, make sure you come back and check for an answer... I always reply so post away!
Hope to see you at Sydney Uni soon and have a relaxing break. And for all of you starting year 12 now... GOOD LUCK.

Hey there asako-sophia. I have read some of your entries! Or am I just your imaginary friend coming back to haunt you? Good advice... my HSC results and UAI are fine so I don't have to worry about most of the things that you have talked about. One thing that you have not yet covered though is how to cope with the pressure of deciding what to do with your UAI!!! I did better than I expected so I have an even harder decision to make.

Okay, seeing as you asked. I'm quite concerned about the UAI cut offs. I got JUST over the cut-off for the course I want at Sydney, but I'm worried it'll get higher and'i'll miss out.
So really, nothing's certain until 4th January. Talk about roller coaster of emotions!!

hey,
I was wondering, do you generally have all your classes near eachother like the same campus?
Thanks.

thats what im talking about guys, thanks for the comments!!!
nastassia,
im glad youve been reading.. my imaginary friend is long gone, though! if there is something you want to do which has a lower uai cut off than the uai you received, go for it! dont think its a waste of uai points and dont let anyone tell you it is! keep me updated.
estella,
which course is this? i can tell you what courses would be good to put 2nd and 3rd in case you dont get into your first one. and have a look at the 2004 cut off as well to see if it changed much . and one last thing, since you were so close, if you end up not getting in, it will be a lot easier to transfer after 1 year if you get reasonable marks at uni! good luck.
phil,
hey! ill be sure to look you up in the fortian as soon as i get home because i dont remember you exactly but im sure i will when i see your face... of course i remember richard! ive been his over-msn english tutor!! haha.. no not really, good luck to you both, hope to see you around next year.
hey nicole,
for the vast majority of courses, youll be placed on one campus for your degree. sometimes in combined degrees )eg with law) you might be on a different camppus for some years, but you usually wont have to trek in between class.

To Nastassia: First of all, congratulations! Woohoo! If you're not sure exactly what you want to do, now that your UAI has come out to be better than expected, a few things I can recommend:
1. See if there is an Advanced version of the degree you want to do; e.g. Arts (Advanced), Science (Advanced). This may be fruitful for you - as it usually allows you to do subjects at a higher level earlier, and therefore fit more into your education!
2. Look at combined degree options too for an extra perspective on ways you can combine all your interests together.
3. If you have your first preference down as the dream course you definitely want to do, then there might not be any need to change!
4. Go out and party!

I'm one of those people wondering what course I should now apply for seeing as I mist out on my first preference, but wouldn't mind transferring after a whole lot of hard work during first year.. who do I ask???

Bachelor of Arts. 83.00 for 2006 and 2005, not usre about 2004 though.
I got 83.10 which is really atrocious but I really should have worked harder, in all honesty. Oh well.
Thanks by the way.

Estella,
I think you'll be okay, but I think you should put in a flexible entry just in case, by the 4th of January.

Scarlet,
If you are willing to do this it is a possibility but I think you should give the helpline a call for more details. 1300 362 006

Hi,
I just wanted to say thanks for the blogs - they are fantastic and really helpful. I read them a lot throughout year 12 last year (as well as continuing to read them all throughout the wait for uais, then wait for uni offers, and now the wait for uni itself) and they've been a great help not only to me but my friends. I've been able to direct them to your blogs for advice with a lot of problems they had. I don't know of any other unis that offer the same kind of awesome 'view from the inside'! The blogs really are a brilliant service so a BIG thanks to all you bloggers, and sorry I haven't thanked you sooner!
:)

hey, Im in my second year at syd uni now doing primary education but i want to transfer to law...problem is my uai was 86.7 so i doubt i can get into syd law. I managed to get a distinction point average in first year but i doubt that will help. I called up the law faculty and was told that they dont take students mid year anyway and that if i was to finish my 2nd year in education, i cant apply for law anyway...so I was thinking i could transfer to uws mid semester and then try to transfer back into sydney law or uts law next year. I just want to know if you have any advice or if you know if there is a certain limit of transfers?
Thanx
:)

hi tasha,
you have to remember that when you are transferring you are competing against not only a lot of other people trying to transfer, but also a whole new cohort of students from year 12. usually to be competitive you need to have had a UAI within 5 points of the cut off.
it might be a good idea to transfer to another uni, you may just love it there! and there is always the option of trying to transfer back but just make sure you're in a degree you want to be in, in case you can't transfer back.
one last option you may not know have existed, is the graduate law option. it is a 3 year degree that you complete after an undergraduate degree, that is basically the same as if you'd done law combined with another degree, except you do all the law at once. and the best thing is it doesnt matter what degree youve done first! check out the website here
http://www.law.usyd.edu.au/fstudent/undergrad/
and BEST OF LUCK!
