You may hear a term being thrown around during the first few weeks of uni... and it’s actually WebCT.

Not too sure what the CT stands for, but here’s the lowdown nonetheless.

A lot of communication you get between teachers and students at Uni will be online.

Through the Myuni website you can access your uni email, enrolment information and variation, your timetable, and loads more. In addition, a very important learning tool obtainable through Myuni is WebCT.

When you log into webCT your personal webCT page will open with the online sites of all the subjects you do. Through these you can download lecture notes, do your pre-tutorial work, access online readings, complete online quizzes, and participate in discussions with other students doing that subject, and sometimes there will be voice recordings of lectures. Each subject’s webCT is different and you will learn about each one as you go.

If you don’t have internet access at home there are a million and one places on campus there are where you can use the internet, but that’s for another blog altogether (seriously).

*By the way, I just found out that from this year, webCT is going to be called "USYD e-learning" which kind of defeats the name of this blog, but at least you'll know what your stone-age lecturers are on about when they talk about "webct"...
