Dear friends, followers, and esteemed colleagues,
Every semester for me begins the same way. False promises of a fresh start study regime. “This semester:
I will not procrastinate.
I will keep on top of my readings.
I will begin essays before the day before they are due.”
Actually I am surprisingly not that bad at point 3, but points 1 and 2 have more quite a long way to go before they are even remotely in the “desired” column of a healthy study regime.
So, this semester, I am taking a new approach. First of all I am only doing two subjects, which has less to do with this new regime than other reasons but let’s just pretend. So really, I have no excuse to not to my readings, and for this experiment I am only writing in the readings I have for psyc3011.
Secondly, I have a pimple the size of Mt Vesuvius about to erupt molten goo all over my chin. Okay, maybe you didn’t need to know that. I’m even procrastinating from writing out my oath.
The point is, I’ve decided that the key to keeping on track with the subjects I have, starts with keeping on top of my readings. So I’m going to actually write down which readings I have each time I write a blog, and only cross them out if I’ve done them. When I’ve finished a week’s readings, they will not appear on the following blog, etc. I hope that makes sense.
I feel that if I expose myself to enough people about how much of an academic slob I am, it will make me feel foolish and whip myself into a reading frenzy. Maybe I can also host tours of my bedroom and the same thing may occur with cleaning. I'll test first with this plan.
So here we go. This is how behind I am.
Week 1
Leahey 199-203, 300-309, 347-355, 366-400
Boakes 63-78, 140-175
Week 2
Leahey 377-390, 392-400, 400-411
Boakes 110-135
Week 3
Rescorla 151-160
Domjan 72-74, 94-96
Week 4
Domjan 74-79
Also, for an added touch, I decided to also note what I’m currently doing to avoid study. Right now, I’m playing 2 of my current 8 games of facebook scrabulous, with friends who are also on msn, talking to me. Gosh. Putting it in words really makes me realise how sad my life is. Fantastic.

Just discovered your blog Asako. Best of luck with your approach. It most certainly did not work for me.
What I found was that the less core study I took on, the less passionate about study I became, and eventually, I checked it in...lol...
Then again, I was not all that great at studying...Best Of Luck Anyways

Hahaha. That was a quirky story i found in one of my meandering procrastinations.
You should definitely host tours of your bedroom. That would be scrabulous!
