I am in Korea!!
I arrived here two days ago and I will be here until the end of February, completing an internship for my degree as a journalist at The Korea Herald, in Seoul.
Seoul is an amazing city. Everything stays open all the time, the people are really friendly and have been so helpful, the food is incredible and yesterday we got snow (if you've read any of my other blogs, you'll know how excited I get about snowflakes!).
Korea is not always at the top of everyone's list when planning travel to Asia. Wedged between China and Japan, it's commonly assumed that Korea is just the in-between sibling, under the influence of both its neighbours, and heavily vulnerable to its Northern counterpart, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
But Korea is a vibrant nation, and one of the fastest developing countries in the world. It is also one of Australia's most important trading partners.
I spent my afternoon yesterday in a small hidden tea shop that I'd come across while exploring an area known as Insadong. I then spent the afternoon sipping the most amazing citron tea I've ever had, and nibbling at perfectly decorated pink and green rice cakes.
I start work on Monday, which I'm very excited and nervous about all at once. The Koreans place a huge amount of value on appearances and first impressions, which means I will definitely have to spend my weekend practicing walking in high heels for work!
I haven't yet taken any photos, but I will venture out into the cold with my camera soon so you can see just how beautiful, exciting and eclectic Seoul really is...

Hi, I'm a Korean who is working at Sogong-dong nearby Insadong where you had interested. Your message is very impressive and interesting for me. I hope to see your various experiences in Seoul. :)
