About Abhijit (Third year Neuroscience exchange)

"I hope you get run over by a truck" Fulton said. "I hope it's a CEMENT truck" (Sun-Herald, July 22, p. 98)

Things you must know about me
- I’m a third year science student majoring in physiology and I’m in the combined science-medicine program (that’s right, the course for “special” people from high school)
- I’m going on exchange to Cornell University next semester to do neuroscience/psychology
- I like pickles (in sandwiches, in burgers, Subway – everywhere). If you’re the type who pulls apart sandwiches or burgers and picks out pickles and throws them out – well, to be entirely honest, I’m not sure I want you reading my blog. And we definitely can’t be friends.

Things you might want to know about me
- I like playing carrom (What’s carrom? Go google it!), going bushwalking/hiking and playing tennis. Bushwalking sometimes has connotations of weird loner wandering into a jungle – and even though that may be true, its actually a lot more fun than that – it can be quite exciting (especially when you get lost) and the scenery on some walks is quite nice.
- My two favourite books are “The Solitaire Mystery” by Jostein Gaarder and “The Dice Man” by Luke Rhinehart. They’re interesting books! I’d recommend them to anyone who likes thinking about anything. I hope that covers everyone.
- My two favourite movies are Little Miss Sunshine and A Beautiful Mind. I like Fight Club as well, but when people tell me that Fight Club is their favourite movie I make a mental note that this person may well be a closet psychopath who will become violent if given the chance. And I don’t want you to think that of me.

Things you probably don’t need to know about me
- Last Friday, I had to wait 20 minutes for my mother to finish shopping. It was 5:30 pm so all the shops were closed - so I went into an elevator and went up and down for 10 minutes because I thought it’d be fun. It was – it reminded me of that crazy ride at Dreamworld which shoots up and down – well the speed wasn’t quite the same, but the principle was the same. If I’m ever short of money and can’t go to an amusement park, I know where I’ll be heading.
- I’ve thrown darts at my magnetic dart board for hours. No breaks. Just darts. I just throw them, gather them up, throw them, gather them up, throw them…I’m not sure what that means. All I know is that its probably not good.
- I watch ABC cartoons. Its sad. I know – but with MASH repeats, that random antique show on channel 9 and stretched out news on Channel 10 I’ve really got no choice at 5 pm.
